audi-rs5-headed-for-2009-detroit-motor-show
Audi fans will be in for a special treat come the 2009 Detroit Motor Show when the RS5 goes live to the public for the first time, many months after spy photos and renderings have long been doing the rounds. Although the RS5 will bare it all for the media world to see on January 11, 2009, US lovers of everything RS will have to make do with only this version for a while. That’s because Audi says the RS6 won't be heading for American dealerships, thanks to exceptionally stringent emissions laws Stateside.
“We had thought perhaps that it would be possible,” said RS6 project manager Jens Koch, “given America's preference for the four-door version instead of the Avant, but the work required on the V10 powertrain to meet the emissions goals hurt the business case.”
Not to worry though, the RS4 will join the RS5 on US dealer floors in the not too distant future. Also the probability of the TT RS playing a supporting role is high, given the pocket rocket roadster’s relatively lower proposed CO2 emissions. Hopefully by the time RS7 also rolls around, the V10’s emissions goals will be attained.

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Sedan Revealed
By Frank de Leeuw van Weenen
Article file under http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080404.002/
2009-chevrolet-cobalt-ss-sedan-revealed
Later this year (second quarter to be precise) the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Coupe will go on sale in the United States, and following the coupe by a few months as a 2009 Model Year Chevrolet will release the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Sedan. General Motors released a single preview image today.
The 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Sedan was present at a 2008 Cobalt SS Coupe press driving event, but was not available for an actual driving session. The sedan will be powered by the same engine as the coupe, namely the 2.0 liter Ecotec engine sourced from Opel and produces 260 hp. The turbocharged engine is also found in the Pontiac Solstice, Chevy HHR SS, Opel Astra OPC and possibly even the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro if fuel prices continue to rise.
We are fully expecting performance for sedan to be very similar to the coupe, which should result in an approximate 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds. GM claims that the 08 Cobalt SS Coupe set a class record Nurburgring time of 8:22.85 minutes earlier this year, beating for instance the Mazda 3 MPS by 17 seconds.
The 08 Cobalt SS Coupe is priced at USD 22,995 so we are expecting the sedan to fetch a similar price at dealerships when it goes on sale, most likely the third quarter of 2008.

alfa-romeo-149new-renderings-ar63962.html
In less than a year we will see the official Alfa Romeo 149. Quite literally all we will do is see the new 149 until Alfa decides to sell in the U.S. again. For Europe, the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show will be the place for the 149’s unveiling. Untiil then we speculate! This latest rendering come from the Italian page OmniAuto.
The 149 will be built on an entire new platform, internally known as the "C-Evo". The chassis is taken from Fiat Bravo and Lancia Delta. Under the hood Alfa Romeo will place a 1.4 T-jet engine with output between 120 and 150 hp. The GTA version will be offered with either a 1.6 or a 1.8 liter engine with output up to 190 hp.

2009-pontiac-g3-ar63980.html
As a result of the high gas prices, Pontiac will bring one more small car on the US market: G3. This Aveo-based small car will be available on showrooms starting early next year.
The G3 will be the fourth Pontiac model capable of more than 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The other three are the Vibe (32 mpg), G6 sedan (33 mpg) and G5 coupe (37 mpg), which make up in Pontiac’s “Over 30” club.
The G3 is powered by a 1.6L Ecotec four-cylinder engine that delivers 106 hp. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission.

Ford Focus ST Mountune Performance package
Article file under http://www.topspeed.com/cars/ford/
-ford-focus-st-mountune-performance-package-ar63894.html
Press release
Ford is offering Focus ST performance upgrades through a special dealer-fit option.
The Mountune Performance package will retail at £1,120 (plus fitting) and consists of a larger intercooler, a high-flow air filter and revised engine calibration. Together, this lifts power output from Ford’s potent 2.5-litre Duratec ST engine from 225PS to 260PS at 5,500rpm and from 320Nm to 400Nm at 2,500rpm.
The upgrade reduces the 0-60mph sprint by 0.6sec to 5.9sec, and the 0-100mph time by 1.9sec to 14.1sec.
The performance gain follows similar Mountune upgrades for the popular Fiesta ST which have been made available from Ford dealers earlier this year. Both have been verified on British B roads and over numerous laps of the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany.
Developed by Mountune Performance in association with Ford Team RS, these packages will only be available at selected specialist Ford dealers’ from Sept 2008. The upgrades carry a minimum of 12 months/12,000-mile dealer warranty up to a maximum of three years/36,000 miles. The upgrade kit does not affect the vehicle warranty.
