BMW unveiled the BMW 550i xDrive Gran Turismo in China at the Beijing Auto Show. This is the first BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo to be equipped with the xDrive all-wheel-drive technology.
The BMW 550i xDrive Gran Turismo is powered by a 4,4 liter V8 engine featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and High Precision Injection. The engine delivers a total of 407 hp and a peak torque of 442 lb-ft and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This way the 550i xDrive Gran Turismo also becomes the first model to combine BMW’s intelligent all-wheel drive with an outstandingly dynamic, smooth, comfortable and highly efficient eight-speed automatic transmission.

2010 Hamann Tycoon EVO M

If the Hamann based BMW X6 is called Tycoon EVO, the tuning program for the BMW X6 M is called Tycoon Evo M, of course. Announced today it will make its world debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
If for the Tycoon Evo the maximum output went up to 501 HP, for the EVO M the output is raised to an impressive 670 hp (an extra 115 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 780 Nm of torque at 1,500 – 5,650 r.p.m. As a result the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 4,2 seconds and the top speed goes up to 186 mph.
The exterior package includes: front and the rear wing extensions made of light composite materials, newly designed side skirts, front apron with the four striking LED daytime running lights, enlarged air inlets in the front and a carbon bonnet, a roof spoilers and 23-inch wheels

Spy Shots: BMW 3 Series E92 Coupe Facelift

It has been a while since we’ve seen spy photos of the upcoming BMW 3 Series E92 facelift and to our surprise, many spy shots popped up today on E90post. The new E92 facelift will include some minor changes to its already gorgeous bodystyle.
Judging by these photos, the headlights will get a different “eyebrow”, similar to what we have seen in the E90 LCI. The LED taillights are different from the current ones, but it’s still hard to tell the exact changes behind the camouflage tape. The front and rear bumpers are being redesigned as well and we have no doubt that they will be even more aggressive.
Now, one thing that has definitely changed and will draw some criticism from the BMW fans, is the side mirror. Compared to the current E92 model, the side mirrors have increased in size, giving the side view a less sleeker look.
What’s even more surprising is the fact that BMW decided to “touch” the interior design as well. Similar to the recently unveiled BMW X1, the heated seats buttons are now located onto the air control panel. Looking at the interior photo below, we can clearly see the “much-loved” perforated steering wheel.
Sources close to BMW spoke to us a few weeks back about some upcoming changes next Spring in the 3 Series line-up and corroborated with the latest rumors, we’re convinced that the new BMW 3 Series E92 facelift will be available in the February-March, 2010 timeframe.

BMW could create a twin turbo V8 powered M5

It appears that the German luxury automaker, BMW is struggling with whether or not to replace the engine in their high performance halo car for 2011. The next generation BMW M5 will either powered by a more efficient version of the current car’s V10 engine or if speculators have their way, the next 5 Series super sedan could be motivated by a healthy helping of boost. That is because BMW is already running a high performance twin turbocharged V8 in both the X5M and X6M sport activity vehicles, and with a little bit of innovative German engineering the BMW boffins could have the mill screaming to the tune of over 600 HP.
Reports have shown that BMW are cautious about continuing to use the V10 because of the CO2 emissions regulations in the U.S. a problem that can be avoided by going with a pair of less pistons. However if the M5 is to maintain its status as one of the brand’s premier vehicles then it would help to have something special under the hood, something not found in any other Bimmer, something to make it even more desirable.
So the question that the BMW engineers have to ask themselves right now is, what would be the better plan for the future? An all out high performance naturally aspirated V10 might sound like a fantastic idea for a sports car power plant, but with the current trend of environmentalism and efficiency, the idea of downsizing and turbo charging is becoming a widely accepted practice in the automobile industry. Renderings: 2012 BMW 3 Series

The next generation 2012 BMW 3 Series is still a few years out, but this does not stop the curiosity of the true bimmer fans. Our friend Giom decided to show us some renderings of what the next generation BMW 3 Series might look like.
If you remember, Giom is the same designer that came up with the really cool 2012 BMW M6 renderings that were posted on here back in May. I agree with Giom when he says that the next generation 3-series will be evolutionary rather than revolutionary, so the styling reflects the current cues, which includes the CS concept.
The headlights retain its basic shape and the intake openings move to the sides of the lower bumper. According to him, this is still an area where the renderings can be improved. There are also lots of detail in the surface folds and creases, creating interesting reflections and shapes. The line bending upwards on the side is a visual helper in creating the illusion of speed. This ‘upward’ line repeats in the rear bumper.
Within the next 2-3 series, the final design will be approved by BMW and we will see which direction the will choose to go towards.

BMW X1 Spy Photos

We keep promising that the X1 is coming out soon, but it hasn’t happened so far. We expected the official photos to drop prior to the event that took place at the Leipzig factory this past weekend.
Obviously we were a bit wrong, but the latest information out of the rumormill says that within days, the press release will drop on the web and we will FINALLY see or criticize the X1.
In the mean time, we decided to post the last spy photos of the BMW X1 and this time, we will keep our word. As much as we enjoy this game, the photos seem to be the same over and over, just slightly different colors.
With that being said, the fellows at vroom.be are responsible for bringing these spy shots of a slightly covered silver X1. And once again, we’re confused….can’t decide if we will fall for it or simply hate it. One thing we know for sure, we dig it more than the current X3.
Now with the new redesigned and larger X3 coming out, it will be difficult to chose one or the other, it will most likely come down for us to which one is more efficient. After driving the X5d for over 1,800 miles, we realized that fuel efficiency is an important factor for us and probably for other people as well.Give us an X1 xDrive23d with over 35 MPG and we’re sold on it.
Bottom line, we have no doubt that the BMW X1 has its place in the BMW line-up and it makes sense even more in the European market. A young demographic is what BMW aims for and this might be the key.

Video: BMW 5-Series GT in action

The German luxury car builder, BMW, has just released their first video of the new 5-Series GT showing the cars capabilities on the street. The new Bimmer GT will go on sale June 23rd in Europe, starting at around 58,000 euro, for the 43.5 MPG 3.0 Liter diesel version, and will go all the way up to 84,500 Euro for the top of the line 550i GT with its TwinPower turbocharged V8 making over 400 HP

BMW 5 Series GT Concept Officially Revealed

The BMW 5-series Gran Turismo Concept is all about the "driving experience." At least, that is the theme BMW wants to strike with this car and what inspired its creation in the first place.
The 5-series Gran Turismo Concept is a Progressive Activity Sedan. BMW like to come up with their own category names for vehicles. They chose to categorize the X6 not as an SUV but as an SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle). So here comes a Progressive Activity Sedan.
What is it supposed to be?
Well, many elements are present here. There's the luxury sedan-level elegance and comfort of the 7-Series balanced with the sporty, outdoors-yness of the X6 as well. It's a concept, so there are few details on power plants and transmissions and lots of talk about style and design. The photos do tell most of the story.
The Gran Turismo is a four-door, four-seat coupe, a design that has become somewhat of a fashion of late. But the rear seats fold down to give this grand tourer 1650 liters of luggage space well-suited to the wanderer in you. And the Panorama glass roof provides the sense of openness you want to feel on the road.
By naming this vehicle a Gran Turismo BMW is looking to re-establish the iconic ideal of the Gran Turismo as a comfy coupe meant for traveling in style. It remains to be seen if this BMW will fly as an actual production model. But they've been known to try stranger things and succeed at it.

The exterior of the BMW Z4 Roadster.
A roadster designed the way only BMW can: the classic proportions of the stretched bonnet and short overhangs are complimented by the low seats near to the rear axle to grant the driver a perfect feel for the road. 
The modern shape, an interplay of striking contours and soft mergers, fully captures the character of this vehicle from its characteristic kidney grille to the powerful wheelarches at the rear.
However, it's the way this roadster effortlessly negotiates straights and bends that makes it truly like no other.
